“Catherine has been instrumental, as my executive coach, to help me make some tough professional decisions. By being empathic and, at the same time, demanding and challenging, she has helped me to examine reality with a different perspective. Catherine is a highly intuitive coach and able to pick up the unsaid very fast. She is very comfortable with silence and that provided me with the space I needed to reflect. The suggestions she made were well worded and the session allowed me to visualize new possibilities, which proved extremely helpful for me to evolve a clear action plan. I was able to get the clarity I desired re formalizing and expanding my speaking practice.
Catherine is a very personable coach and she is able to empathize with the coachee and provide tools and insights into how one can view and tackle the issues. She provides a sense of assurance and guidance to the coachee without unnecessarily “over hand-holding” thus enabling the coachee to decide and analyze independently. Catherine is able to discuss and guide the coachee on a wide spectrum of issues ranging from staff / boss management to personal goals / reflections. I benefitted much from the coaching sessions through her pleasant disposition and insightful guidance.
The coaching program with Catherine had been arranged as part of the INSIGHT Leadership program which I attended. One of the emphases of the program is on the participants’ introspection and personal discovery. It was my first ever formal coaching experience and I was apprehensive about sharing details of my introspection with Catherine. However, her professional, non-threatening demeanour and open sharing right from the beginning allowed to create a safe space and sowed the seed for what was to be the fertile ground for my open sharing of deep and personal thoughts and feelings with her in our subsequent contacts during the coaching sessions. I was pleasantly surprised that I could lower my self defence so quickly and respond with such ease to her many thought provoking questions when she challenged me to get out of my comfort zone. Catherine patiently worked with me to analyse my existing strengths and areas for improvements based on the ILTC Leadership competencies model. Then she helped me to crystallise concrete goals which I hoped to achieve from the coaching program and provided support in formulating concrete step by step tasks in order to achieve them. I am happy that I have achieved most if not all the goals I had set for the coaching program with Catherine. In fact, I am exploring to include coaching as one of the means for my personal and professional development in the future following this experience. |
